We’re hearing the term “Echo Chamber” a lot. Just what is the Echo Chamber? EP:003

More and more we are hearing the term “Echo Chamber.”

As people quarrel over how and why someone like Donal Trump won the presidency, a different terminology has been adopted of late to account for it.

It’s called the “Echo Chamber” effect and is being blamed for many different issues, especially ones that are riddling social media platforms.

“An echo chamber is a metaphorical description of a situation in which beliefs are amplified or reinforced by communication and repetition inside a closed system.”

Therefore, one could say the idea that visiting social media sites opens us up to be somewhat manipulated by these echo chambers via meme’s, photos, videos and other apps that seem to always run subject matter based on our likes and user engagement.

They continuously feed us the same scope of information over and over again, with the purpose of closing the opportunity for us to entertain a viewpoint from a different perspective.

A persons belief system is generally very strong and entities that want to strengthen those particular beliefs use different methods to try and accomplish their goals.

One popular area, maybe the most popular of the day is gun control. If your a person that pro 2nd amendment, your likely to see a lot of echo chambering¬† in the form of videos or memes that constantly tell us that the government is coming to take your guns away, or that there’s a growing number of people that want the 2nd amendment repealed and done away with.

This type of repetitive stimulative messaging is like programming a computer a little piece at a time until the entire operating system is running itself based on the stimuli it receives without regard to any other possible ways of carrying out its daily functions.

The same theory applies to people whom might be anti-gun and they would be fed these echo chambers filled with nothing but destruction and devastation surrounding the ownership of guns.

Echo Chambers don’t have to be about guns, it could be almost anything, but the effects would cause the same response behavior based on their focused agenda, it might be to buy a new car or house, or owning one type of pet over another.

Its theory is age old if you think about it, we’ve always been told, “If you want to be good at something, do it over and over again until it’s second nature.” so echo chambers aren’t new, they’ve been around a long time, it just takes someone to point out that we might be subject to them.

That’s why I always say, “There’s a lot of pot stirring going on out there, think about it before you except it as the truth!
