Coronavirus outbreak: U.S. task force update on COVID-19 outbreak

Members of the U.S. Corona virus task force led by U.S. Vice-President Mike Pence provided an update on their efforts towards containing and combating the spread of the novel corona virus.

Vice President Pence gave updates on the government efforts in expanding testing capacity in commercial and state labs across the U.S. and also addressed the government agreement with insurance companies to waive co-pays for COVID-19 testing.

As well, Dr. Anthony Fauci from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) said “what’s happening is not a surprise to anybody if you look at the history of infectious diseases.”

Fauci also added that the number of confirmed cases in the U.S. will increase while the “risk is relatively low as a nation.”
